This is a type of freight shipment that combines shipments from multiple customers in a single truck. Each shipment typically takes up part of the truck, rather than requiring a full truckload. This method is generally used when a shipper has a small amount of freight that doesn’t require the space of an entire truck. LTL is cost-effective for small shipments because customers share the transportation costs with others, but it may require longer delivery times, since multiple shipments may be loaded and unloaded at different stops along the route.
